With a bitter and stubborn human blacksmith as his caretaker for all his known days, the orphaned dwarf knew nothing of his origins. Confused and increasingly dismissive, he abandoned all dwarven ties, wishing to me simply known as the “Man UnKnown.” ‘MUK’ would suffice. The decision to leave it all for adventuring in the far-northern reaches of Phlan came all too easy. Fate had other disigns in store, though, as MUK discovered unity in religion and devoted himself to Helm as His Pious Templar. What’s more shocking was the discovery of Love, in the form of a fellow dwarf, no less. It was enough to permit his party to continue adventuring without him.
Years faded, and calamity similarly befell another infant dwarf discovered in the region. MUK was deemed the rightful benefactor, and fittingly dubbed this newcomer “Grandson UnKnown”—GUK, as he was determined to provide a better life for this orphan than what he recieved. It was a scholarly pursuit: religion, the healing arts, history and the arcane. It all suited GUK well.
GUK’s test into manhood arrived on the wings of a mystifying purple powder introduced to Phlan with powerful repercussions. It proved too dangerous to ignore, and too far out of the scope of the elder dwarf to attend. GUK was commissioned to determine the source of the chemical concoction, and if in his power, to see to its demise.
His investigative search brought him to the seat of production, yet only gained entry to the compound as a reluctant prisoner. As botched as the attempt to destroy the drug was, technically GUK’s mission was at an end. However, he was trained to not shirk his duties. As GUK was indebted to a group of adventurers for both his rescue and the success of his mission, he felt obligated to serve them as best he could. GUK adopted their mission as his own, and would see them through no matter how far or long it would take him.
